Transportation to and from the field is often the biggest obstacle for refugee players. Please contact us if you are interested in providing rides for players to practices after school and/or games on weekends.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
Spring 2026
Driver/Rides to Practice - This is always the biggest need. Ideally we’d like individuals to commit to a regular weekly drive time, but we also need subs on occasion. If you’re available for an hour or so from 4-9 pm on any weekday(s), please let us know.
Point Person for a Player - Ideally, we like to match each player with a point person, either a family member within their team, or someone who would like to get to know them and to ensure their needs are supported in order to fully participate. This may include helping with registrations, communicating about schedules, assessing if they need gear, coordinating carpools, etc.
Driving Coach - 4 of our teenage players have their drivers permits and need additional practice hours prior to taking their license tests, but they do not have family members who are able to help teach them. 2 players' moms also have their learners permits and need time with a seasoned driver. We may have access to a loaner car if you would prefer to not use your own.
Travel Chaperone - Many of our players need a “host family” in order to attend out of town games and tournaments. This includes rides, accommodations, meals, supervision, and making sure they get to the right fields at the right time with both shinguards. Common Goal can cover expenses as needed.
Gear Manager - We’d love to have someone who can organize, track, and manage donated gear. This may also entail working directly with kids when they need a new pair of cleats or other gear.
Program Sign-ups - Help families to make sure forms are signed, documents are in place, sports physicals are scheduled, etc., so that players are ready to go for each season. This may involve going to the home of players to meet with their parents (sometimes with translation help of the kids!).
Travel Coordinator - Help track who is going where throughout the season, and make sure hotels are booked and that there is a plan in place for each player.
College Scouting Prep - Help high school players put together highlight films, soccer resumes, and give guidance on reaching out to coaches ahead of college ID events.
Administrative and/or Communications Support - Someone with experience with CRM tools who could help send and track regular communication with our supporters, or bookkeeping to spend an hour or so a month logging income and expense receipts.
Graphic Design - Clean up our logo files, design flyers and maybe some swag!
Fundraising - Apply for grants, organize events, cultivate a donor base… these can be for individual applications, campaigns, or events that we already have targeted - help keep us going strong!
